So...how about an update on life? This is as much, or more, for me as it is for anyone who will read it. It's also only happening because I can't sleep and it's 2:30 in the morning. I really should be sleeping, I can't just rest all day tomorrow, but when one can't sleep, what is one to do? Stay awake. It's the only option. And I can't just wait to fall asleep any longer. Maybe sorting through my thoughts and writing some of them will help.
I turned 20 last month. Yay me, I'm all grown up! K, not for real. I'm still a little lost in this adult world. I get to a place where I think maybe I'm ready to step out and face life, and then I encounter some problem that makes me go run and hide....and feel pathetic.
But it's not always like that. I do have a good job right now, as a respite worker. I'm supposed to give parents a respite from their kids, for children with problems like ADHD or something that can be overwhelming for the parents. I love it. I only care for one girl right now, but we have a great time together, just goofing around, playing games, talking, doing crafts...it's great! There is a harder side to it, since I'm part of her 'treatment' program, and I'm supposed to help her grow as a person and learn, not just babysit her, so it makes it a challenge while still being fun. Perfect.
I'm also a part of a young adult group, which is awesome! I love the fellowship and sharing and the friendships that are growing and what God is doing through it. It's making me get over some of my shyness, too, which is obviously an issue in my life (haha, it's sad, but true). We finished studying the book "Fearless" by Max Lucado a little while ago, which was a good book, not extraordinary, but it has some good things in it. The first few chapters are great, and then it seems a little repetitive, and Mr. Lucado seems to try to convince us of how scared we are a little more than He tells us how to not be scared....or maybe that was just the part I focused on. I think he did direct our attention toward God a lot as the One to get rid of our fear...Anyways...Right now we are just talking about whatever the Lord puts on our hearts each week. Our leader, Beth, and I have both shared devotions with the group and I'm sure that soon we'll have more poeple sharing, and it's just going great! We're pretty small right now...so if you want to connect with some young adults and your between about 20 and 30, you should join us! The more the merrier :).
My church's VBS is next week; I'm helping out with that...we have a big group coming from Alabama to help us! It's going to be so fun. We don't have a whole lot of young people in our church, so it will be different having about 20 extra of them around! Pretty excited!
Aaannnnd....that's all for now. I'm not sleepy yet, but...this is kind of long, and no one likes to read long, rambling blogs...so I'm stopping now...
